The history of Des Moines, Iowa dates all the way back to the early 1800s before European settlers were stepping foot into the Midwest. The city first started as a place of interest for the government, which resulted in the setup of a military unit station, located on the Des Moines River. “Fort Des Moines” was built in the interest to protect the rights of the local Native American tribes.

The city today is home to more than 215,000 people, including Baldwin Supply’s Des Moines branch. In 2006, Baldwin Supply acquired Leader Bearing Supply in Des Moines, Iowa, which was the beginning of the development of the Des Moines office and Baldwin Supply’s 5th branch location.

Much like the state of Iowa, the Des Moines branch handles a wide variety of customer types including, but not limited to, Food/Grain Production, Aggregate, Road Construction, Original Equipment Manufacturers, Power Generation, and Poultry/egg-laying facilities. With over 100 years of collective industry experience, the Des Moines team has expertise in electric motors, automation, bearings, power transmission, conveying products, and more.
