Before the beginning of Baldwin Supply, the city of Fridley, Minnesota, home to Baldwin’s current Belt Shop facility, was first settled on and developed with the construction of the Red River Ox Cart trail in 1844. The road, starting in Minnesota, was used to transport furs and supplies up north to the settlers in Red River Valley. The settlement soon grew in population and developments, including a general store, sawmill, and post office.

In 2006, after 86 years of business, Baldwin Supply acquired Light Weight Belting Company, introducing lightweight belting to their product offering. Baldwin's Belting Division specializes in Heavy & Light Weight custom belt fabrication, installations, prototyping, design consulting, and world-class customer service. Some of our custom fabrications include cleating, v-guiding, vulcanizing, lacing, digital cutting, and hole perforating to meet their customers' needs.

In February of 2021, Baldwin announced their Belt Shop would be moving to a new facility located in Fridley, Minnesota. The move allowed Baldwin Supply's Belting operations to expand their work capabilities, and better serve their growing customer base. One month later, Baldwin Belting moved into their new 50,000 square foot facility. A six-week time-lapse video shares the transformation and upgrades of the belt fabrication, inventory, warehouse, and workshop space.
